Icon-5066 HF Prediction capability is dependent on M-Vault 19.1.

Icon-Skywave

Icon-Skywave is a new tool shipped as a part of Icon-5066 that performs HF Prediction using the ITU-R P.533 algorithm. Icon-Skywave is a server providing an HTTP/JSON interface that allows applications to make HF Prediction queries.

Icon-Skywave uses information on Mobile Units (MUs) and HF Access Points (HFAPs) stored in the directory. MUs and HFAPs contain information on location and parameters that support the P.533 algorithm. This enables entities to formulate queries based on STANAG 5066 addresses of HFAPs and MUs.

The initial target of Icon-Skywave is to support HF Prediction.

HF Prediction

Icon-5066 is extended to support ALE HF Prediction, based on HFAP and MU location. To do this, Icon-5066 needs to control the frequency used by the ALE unit. Many, but not all ALE units support this. This control enables:

1. Avoiding use of frequencies that are know to not propagate at the current time; and

2. Ordering frequency choice, to attempt best frequencies first

Managed Modems – Update Capability

Icon-5066 also supports “Managed Modems” which are monitored and controlled through the Web API but are not used by Icon-5066. This is to support modems used for other purposes, such as Voice or ACP 127 direct to modem. Icon-5066 3.2 adds the capability to modify selected parameters: speed; interleaver; and waveform.

Red/Black 2.2 includes a Managed Modem device update to use these new features.

Support is added for the following Codan radios, with integrated modem and ALE:

• Codan Envoy X2 Modem/Radio with 3G ALE

• Codan Sentry-H 6120-BM Modem/Radio with 3G ALE

• Codan Sentry-H 6110-MP Modem/Radio with 3G ALE
